An important complement to his extensive formal training, Carl has been fortunate to travel the world as a musician, and brings much of his life experience to the table as a teacher.

Carl began teaching private lessons at the age of 16.  He is familiar with the Royal Conservatory Program and also draws from his university training where he earned a Fine Arts degree in music.

Carl is comfortable teaching many styles of music including jazz, pop and classical, as well as musical theory, history and ethnomusicology.

Carl offers one-on-one and semi-private lessons in piano, voice, ukulele and saxophone.

Music Theory

With a knack for weaving music theory into learning, something that many people struggle with becomes enjoyable and contributes to a well-rounded experience.

Workshops

Carl has facilitated workshops across Canada, the United States and Europe on topics including Stage Presence, Vocal Techniques, Choral Repertoire, and Contemporary A Cappella. Workshops are fun and interactive, and can easily be adapted to the interests of the group.
